According to the UK PSP Magazine, Sony is promising up to 7,000 PSone games emulated on the PSP by the end of 2007. Yes, you read that right. Seven thousand.
The mag offers no concrete release date of pricing details but does confirm that launch titles would include Tomb Raider, Symphony of the Night, Final Fantasy VII , VIII and Silent Hill.
This is golden news for gamers on the move, who so far in 2006 have been showered with news about all the cool and exciting things going on in the world of the Nintendo DS. It’s about time Sony gave them a bit of attention, and providing them with a back catalogue of 7,000 PSOne games is a damn good start.
This, plus the EyeToy motion-sensing camera add-on, which hits shelves in October, new PS3-compatible firmware in November, along with the earlier news regarding a sequel to Ridge Racer - well, it's all good, say we.
Now is the time to go and invest in a PSP, if you haven’t already.

Well at least the ones created before dual analogue will translate better then current gen ps2 ports.
I question whether this will interest many more people then the hardcore, but if Sony are able to do quick and dirty conversions then why not (although FFVII may be a bit of a bitch to get digitally, "Insert Memory Stick 2"

no it is not time to invest iin a PSP.yes that is a nice reason to get one if u love the PSone games.however,i think this is a matter of too little too late. The PSP as a portable device has its fundamentals all in the wrong place, its not a portable machine.i have talked to a lot of ppl that have got a PSP and just got bored of it,they say they would prefer to play ther games on the 28inch tv bside them rather than on a 4inch screen.
regarding the 7k psone games, its a nice bonus for existing customers, but i really cant see it adding sugnuficantly to the PSPs fan base.

Its a cool addition to PSP, but how much are the downloads? Price is really important and Sony sometimes like the colour of your money too much.
I'm now wondering if that 7000 includes japanese imports too or just official stuff? I'd like to have games I've been denied before like Xenogears.
If no imports I'll be very upset since I'll alos be able to have Chrono Trigger and SF Alpha 2 in my pocket for the first time.

If a game is released in each territory Sony counts it as 3 seperate games. It's just another inflated figure as per usual.

come on, you should know Sony. If they promise 3500 games by the end of 2007 you could be sure you'll have between 10 - 15 games by x-mass 2007.... if they don't offer them very cheap they will disapear again, exacly like UMD movies...

You also have to ask how many are actually worth having. Dual-stick games won't work obviously, so Ape Escape's out. For me, I'd only want:
MGS
Silent Bomber
GT2

How will you hold the PSP AND dance abou tin front of it waving your hands (at least one of which should be holding the thing) about like a loon?
