You might have been hearing about an Xbox murder trial in the press of late. If you have, you'll know that in actuality, there's no such thing. An example of the type of sub-snuff reportage the mainstream press has been putting out about a horrible incident which took place in August 2004, we'll hand you over to the gleeful writers at the Associated Press: "Six dead, beaten with bats. Some mutilated with a knife. Now, the three men convicted Tuesday of committing the rampage over the taking of an Xbox video game system face a possible death sentence."

Contrast this with the words of the chief prosecutor in the case, as published by the Miami Herald in a piece outlining how an Xbox caused a bloodbath. "Victorino became angry when Belanger took his Xbox video game and some clothing from her grandparents' vacant home where he had been squatting, but the Xbox wasn't the real reason for the slayings. He was disrespected. It was a matter of respect."

You see, if the stolen item had been a car, say a Honda Civic, the headlines would not read "Honda Civic Murders" or "Honda Civic Theft Spurs Bloodbath."
