Mark Rein, Epic Games' head of talking to drunken reporters, recently put up a post in the Gears of War forums simply stating: “BIG announcement coming next week!” followed by a smug knowing little smiley face. Curse them, knowing things we don’t!

Once we got past our unwarranted jealousy we quickly began to wonder what such an announcement could be. The obvious and oh so important release date or “emergence day” (as the marketing types would have it) is quickly dashed in Rein's reply to a forum member.

“Sounds like maybe the announcement that is going to be made isn't what you think it is”. Blast!

While the actual subject of the announcement will certainly remain a mystery until Epic is good and ready, here at SPOnG, we have a fair number of ideas of our own. These include, but are not limited to, the following list:

"List of War"
a) Vehicles
b) A “Men of GOW” calendar for all the ladies
c) Multiplayer Details
d) A gun with a rabid wolverine attached to it
e) Complete Weapons List
f) The ability to use your AI team mates as human shields

We could go on.

You can be sure that one lucky SPOnG staffer will be charged with doing nothing but refreshing the official GOW page from now until said announcement is released (that's what interns are for, isn't it?) so stay tuned.
