Peter Moore Goes Cold on Wii60
Plus! Outlines ideal 360 consumer as 23 year-old College Jock.
Posted 21 Sept 2006

You may remember many months ago at E3 that Peter Moore suggested that consumers would consider buying an Xbox 360 and a Nintendo Wii as their first two consoles of choice, over and above Sony's controversially-overpriced PlayStation 3, a console combo since referred to as the 'Wii60'.
Well, it seems Peter's changed his position on the Wii60 a little since then, telling CNET this week that, "In a lot of instances, it [Wii] will be a number two box because it's priced accordingly. The fear I would have is that people will buy the box and only play a few games. I think you'll pull it out at parties. It's fun for a few minutes, but I'm not sure [how long that will last]."
Moore also went on to outline 'the ideal Xbox consumer', who is (drumroll please)..."A male. He is connected. He is very, very used to going online for community. He's probably played PC games online. He's part of a Halo 2 clan and has been for two years. That comes from him playing Halo in college--so he's 23 or 24--with his buddies. He still loves to go out on a Wednesday night with them, even though they're spread all around the US. But they all come together Wednesday night to relive the days in the dorm room..."
He continues: "He also expects instant gratification, the delivery of game demos to his hard drive via his broadband network. And he's popular enough to have his profile online and he's pretty competitive, so he loves [Xbox game] achievements. He'll stay up all night to get achievements in games that his buddies have because it just pisses him off that they've got them first. He also would rather starve to death than not have a high-definition TV. He'll go without food rather than have a standard-def 27-inch TV."
For some reason, this quote from Moore has made SPOnG want a PlayStation 3 a little bit more.

don't worry about MR Moore... he was the main responsible for the Dreamcast disaster in the US since he was the boss of SEGA US marketing.
as long as he is in charge for marketing 360, they wont make any progress

And it's made me want a toke on that crack pipe he's evidently been over-indulging

ow dear, I usually love the s**t he comes out with, BC stuff was great, but this is cringe worthy stuff.
BTW I'm 30, married with 2 kids and play online occasionally, out of the 7ish people I personally know with 360's none fit that criteria - not even close..

Peter Moore, you might as well just say it, you think that Wii won't grab enough attention of gamers that play 360. I think he needs some medicine.
He's not sure how long that would last people, I can't wait for him to eat his words when Wii does well.
