Thank Crunchie, it’s Friday! And this can only mean one thing. Tomorrow you can go and spunk all your hard-earned cash on yet more videogames, yet again ignoring the advice of your better selves (who, of course, have their own agenda, which is to get you to spend all your hard-earned on them!).

Games you should be looking to buy and spank this weekend are, in no particular order, Rockstar’s controversial-for-all-the-wrong reasons Canis Canem Edit (PS2 Rockstar); Ubisoft’s uber-fantasy romp Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (PC) and the surprisingly good ‘giving PES 6 a run for its money’ FIFA 07 on Xbox 360.

Of course, if you, like many in the SPOnG office, are a hardened PES-man, then you will no doubt be rushing out to get hold of the 360 version of Pro Evolution Soccer 6 which is also out today. And if anyone fancies a square go on PES6 Xbox Live, then just post your gamertags in the forums and get on with it.

Fans of handheld arcade flight-sim action may well get a kick out of the dastardly ‘hard-to-land, just-another-go’ Pilot Academy on PSP from Rising Star/Kuju.

Finally, if you are a friend of Dorothy and/or a lady then you might consider the Karaoke-queens favourite SingStar Legends on PS2 from Sony London. And on that homophobic, sexist bombshell, we’ll leave you to make up your minds and enjoy a fun weekend of not leaving the house/flat other than to top up on lager and fags to fuel a 48-hour online PES 6 football-a-thon. Winter is almost here. Thank god.
