That's a not-to-be-sniffed-at £1,250,000 worth of consoles. That's 8,000 Xboxes that can't be sold to you. Or 8000 Xboxes you can buy on the cheap in a service station carpark in Warwickshire, if you prefer.
Careless is the word that springs to mind.
In the latest incident the driver was waved off the road by a gang of at least three men in a Range Rover and a Rover saloon. Thinking he had something stuck in his under-carriage he pulled over, only to be attacked and dragged out of the vehicle.
The lorry was later found empty, unsurprisingly, on the A38 at Minworth, Warwickshire. The driver was taken to hospital for treatment but is believed to have suffered only minor injuries.
SPOnG spoke to Peter Stevens, Media Liason for the Staffordshire Police, and he told us this: "The M.O. was totally different so we're not currently treating the two incidents as linked, but it is a fairly unusual occurrence. We believe the consoles will be sold in this country, so our investigation will be concentrated here."
He added: "I can't go into further detail but we are getting information from the public."
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Inspector Emma Griffiths on 08453 30 20 10 or, call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
