Nintendo appears to be making good on its promise of a steady stream of Virtual Console releases with four new additions to the catalogue today.

Donkey Kong Jr from Nintendo will be available for 500 Wii points (£2.50 GPB) whilst the TurboGraphix racer Victory Run will set you back 600 points (£3 GPB). Coming in at a slightly less wallet-friendly figure are SEGA titles Columns and Ristar at 800 points (£4 GPB) a pop.

The old-timers in the SPOnG office are rubbing their hands together in glee as they think of their old NESes and Mega Drives. Mark, in contrast, is sat in the corner asking "what's a Ristar?" We're unified, however, in our curiosity to see what a TurboGraphix title actually looks like.

The titles will be available at around 5pm GMT for our pals in the US. Unfortunately, while there are a number of preview Wiis sat around Europe, us Brits won't get to look at any of the Virtual console titles until the European launch on Friday.

I'd just like to say something. I hear people saying that the VC is a bit of a ripoff and you can find the original carts for cheaper than the price Nintendo are asking online.

I don't think I've ever seen Ristar go for £4. Ever. Not even Columns. If SPOnG's WP=£ conversion (WP: Wii Points) is correct, this is one of the cheapest ways to get your old games back. I don't understand why people have got such a wedgie about this...

EDIT: OK, so I just saw the PS1 downloadables for PSP from PS3, £3 a pop. Although something tells me it ain't gonna be £3 over here, more like £6.
