Will Guitar Hero Feature Distortion Pedals?
Speculation over mystery port on 360 guitar controller

SPOnG spoke to a contact close to the development team at RedOctane who told us, “As far as I’m aware it’s not planned to bring distortion feature to the game as it stands, as it would just involve too much development resources to re-program all the current tracks in the game.”
However, he added, tantalisingly, “It it’s certainly not something that can be ruled out for the planned downloadable tracks and for future versions.”
The source of the news was Game Informer preview, where the previewer noted that there was a mysterious and unexplained little port (which looks a little bit like an Ethernet port, pictured) on the back of the 360’s X-plorer guitar controller.
The port is next to that for the 360 headset and looks very similar to the jack that connects the 360’s Steering Wheel to the pedals. Read into that what you will!
SPOnG told you earlier this week about the ten tracks that are exclusive to the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II. Information has also come our way on a bunch of achievements in the game, which include:
• Eddie Van Halen Award: Get a 500 note streak
• Life of the Party: Bought all characters
• Record Collector: Bought all songs
• Big Spender: Spent $10,000 at store
• Perfectionist: Get 100% on a song
• 200k Club: Get 200,000 points in a song
• Rock Snob Award: Refused to play an encore
• Scoremonger: Got an 8x multiplier
More on planned downloadables for GH2 and the distortion feature when we get a firm confirmation or denial from RedOctane.
