Blogger hey_suberbia has published the results of his Wii Sports fitness experiment. He's dropped an impressive 9lbs.

On his blog at wiinintendo.net he details his regime,"I outlined a six-week game plan for myself, the idea being that I would continue ALL normal activity and eating habits, and simply add 30 minutes of Wii Sports to my day. For the past month and a half, I've stuck to these guidelines very strictly."

His programme involved playing Tennis, Bowling, Boxing and Baseball. He wisely left out Golf - probably because he couldn't get -7 like we can at SPOnG (and we bet you can't do any better - if you can, tell us in the Forum and provide proof!)

In addition to the 9lbs lost hey_suberbia dropped nearly 2% of his body fat, dropped his heart rate from 82BPM to 68BPM and improved his body mass index from 25.2 to 24.0, taking him from 'overweight' to 'normal'.

Watch out all you fatties, the Wii's coming to bust your gut…

Note: SPOnG would like to point out that in spite of our cruel headline, hey_suberbia was not really fat before the experiment, just a bit porky.

Heard about this. Guess this is the better news about Wii, and puts a spanner in the works of MPs who claim gaming is evil. I just wonder how much press coverage the positive gaming news gets? Anyone seen anything on tv?

Wii Sport makes excercise fun, and that's good because the mention of that e word is enough to usually put anyone off. I pray Nintendo can build on this and perhaps actually give us a official Super Punch Out sequel.

If not, maybe Midway can step in with Ready to Rumble 3 or EA with a dose of Fight Night.

if your watching tv youre not playing games. there shouldnt be any positive news about games like there shouldnt be any good news about music ffs! i dont want f**king bono-a-likes f**king speaking out all nice and postive bout games that would suck like a starving baby at a mothers tit.
