EA has quietly announced another slip for Half Life 2: Episode Two. The Valve-developed shooter will now ship in Autumn this year.
When we say quietly, we mean it was buried in EA's announcement naming the two bundles Episode Two will ship in: The Black Box and The Orange Box. The bundles were announced last year but this is the first time they've been named.
The Black Box ships only for the PC and includes Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2. The Orange Box ships for the PC, PS3 and 360 and includes all of the above as well as Half Life 2 and Half Life 2: Episode One.
This won't be the first time Episode Two has slipped. Previously announced for early 2007, it slipped to summer. That's a round-about way of saying 'SPOnG's not surprised'. We can only wait in hope as Valve redefines the meaning of 'episodic'.

I'm just sorry that Portal has got caught up in all this. The ONLY reason I'd buy Episode 2 is for Portal.

Is anyone surprised at this? It seems Valve is really having trouble getting what is supposed to be episodic content - content, not a new engine - out of the door.
If the company is having so much trouble taming a game for PC, I'm not surprised Gabe Newell is whining like a ninny over writing PS3 code.
I'm with Ghoti on the Portal front, can't wait for it (though I do want Ep2)
