Sony Producing Metal Gear Movie

Production house confirmed

Sony will handle the elusive Metal Gear film. The news comes straight from the mouth of Sony Pictures Entertainment vice chairman, Yair Landau.

Speaking after his D.I.C.E. keynote in Las Vegas, Landau said:

"We're working with the Metal Gear guys… It's a very cinematic game, it really lends itself to movie telling. But the question is, 'How do you translate Snake's experience into a full arc that conforms to what audiences expect on the large screen?'"

How indeed? Not with the help of movie killer Uwe Boll as was rumoured last year.

That may not be all. According to Landau: "There are other games we are looking to develop. We're working with one of my favorite producers right now on an idea for an EverQuest movie." The name of said producer? No chance. "I'll let him disclose that," Landau said.

The fact that a Metal Gear move is happening has been known since series creator Hideo Kojima confirmed it at E3 last year. Details still remain extremely sparse, however.

Since the movie of Dead or Alive that followed the series' fourth installment made us wince so much, and Jason Statham still hasn't been recruited for the Hitman movie, SPOnG has very high hopes for this.

i preferred the gameplay of the second mgs, but the story, direction, choreography and characters of mgs3 are absolutely brilliant

i hope they get someone suitable for snake. do you reckon theyll ask kurt russell maybe? the whole snake plisskin thing, kojima likes his Escape from X

there should definitely be an option on the dvd for a david hayter overdub of snake, hell a dub of all the characters being spoken for by their videogame voice talent

because hayter (his voice anyway) kind of IS snake to most

The scuplt on this thing is top notch. I bguhot this to hang on my wall and leave in the packaging. This isn't the kind of toy you buy to play with, it's a display piece. You can display it in or out of the box but that's about it. It's not a very poseable figure it's meant to be in the pose it's in. The details are amazing though and this is a gorgeous piece of work. I love looking at this hanging on my wall next to all my other MGS figures. I'm considering buying a second one to take out of the box and display elsewhere.
