Nintendo US Releases: No GameCube

More evidence that the GameCube is dead

Nintendo US Releases: No GameCube
Nintendo's US release schedule running into summer has been made available. Despite a clearly worded denial from Nintendo of the death of the GameCube the schedule is distinctly lacking in any titles for the console.

The GameCube's absence from the schedule adds further weight to Perry Kaplan's statement in a recent interview. She said:

“Are we producing any more GameCubes? No”. This was promptly denied to SPOnG by Nintendo, but to SPOnG the notion of a console that's still alive and kicking is difficult to marry to a lack of any releases for the system over at least a four month period.

With Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (23rd March) and Shrek Smash 'N' Crash Racing (March 16th) due for GameCube release and nothing else after, we asked a Nintendo spokesman today what was happening, "We stand by our original statement that we are continuing to produce GameCube hardware and software", we were told.

The list is also notably bereft of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

See below for the full list.

The Wii line-up looks marginally better now, although still pretty bleak. It will be interesting to see how good Price of Persia and Paper Mario are.

More importantly, where is Smash Bros?

will spong be arranging any tournaments in pokemon or smash bros.

it could be simply done, everyone that wants to play in a tournament, has to register thru the forums, spong cud randomly draw the names out of a hat ,post the matches up,and then we cud play, every specified night and thru the week until the final.

heck even offer paypal features to give everyone a little more incentive.illegal?

I am liking this idea... if there is enough interest, something along these lines could be a goer.

i think to see how much interest ther is in this ther should be a feature or a headline or something to attract attention, instead of this thread which very little ppl will proably read.

i use to be a part of a great site called dsnews.co.uk ,billson will validate how gd a site this was.it had a load of members which talked about games a lot,but see wen mk:ds went online, the traffic sky rocketed,so much so that the guy running it quit the site because it was soooo much work(he had a full time job).i think its becasue ppl search on google"play online ssb" etc etc.spong should be ready and take the oppertunity that dsnews didnt have the man power to do.

suggestion:set up a quick and easy INTUATIVE service which will instantly attract people to it,as a result u have increased traffic on ur site, which means more money for adverts and more money in tim and the lads pocket.

Also people need to know about it and if the servise is good enough, word of mouth will do the rest.

bragging rights anyone?
