Electronic Arts has entered into a joint venture with Nettwerk One Music to form the new full-service music company, Artwerk .

Nettwerk’s management specialises in music publishing and, more importantly, digital delivery. Electronic Arts makes games...

The new label is cleverly entitled, Artwerk, and according to a joint statement will “sign and develop both new and established artists for publishing, master recording and sync deals, as well as digital and physical distribution. The Los Angeles-based label will be actively pursuing talent in all parts of the world.”

Quick off the mark, Artwerk also announced it has signed producer artist – Junkie XL, whose tracks recently appeared in Madden NFL 07 and Need for Speed Carbon.

Junkie XL? We assume that the gentleman is a rather large individual who worked in the recycling industry prior to making music, because surely a clean-cut label such as EA would have no truck with an enormous drug-addict?

The Junk-Meister told the EA press department, "Both EA and Nettwerk are artist friendly, progressive thinking companies who embrace and don't fear the future. I feel understood as an artist and at ease with the people from both companies, which is most important to me. I can’t wait to release my new music through 'Artwerk’."

So, digital delivery of music sees EA expanding beyond games. Capcom moving to Hollywood? What other brand expansions would you like to see or not? Tell us in the Forum below.
