The ViDoc features a healthy dollop of gameplay cut with the good folk at Bungie discussing their baby. SPOnG's happy to report that the bubble/shield/grenadey-thing you saw in the televised advert isn't just there to allow pretty cut-scenes, it's in the footage and looks suitably handy. Also shown off are the nasty looking (and as yet unseen) Trip Mine, and the person-projecting Man Cannon.
SPOnG reckons Bungie must be getting a bit insecure as it reaches maturity. Not content with announcing that the much-anticipated Halo 3 beta will launch on May 16th, it has to tease our nerd-bones all afternoon, as well...
*Ahem.* Video below. Enjoy.

Visually, from what I could see, the lighting seems all wrong, leaving looking little more than a bumpier, lumpier, shinier Halo 2. Maybe the shaders aren't all in there - guess we'll just have to wait 'til it's delivered.
Yer i'm sure the guys @ bungie have got it all wrong, you'd thought they'd asked you first how it should be set up!?..... tut tut fools.

Perhaps a link to bungie's article with screen shot and QT/WMV downloads would be in order. Also this is apparently available on marketplace in HD form for DL if you want to see what it really looks like.

Personally i think the new FEATURES they showed look awesome. the bubble and trip mine seem like great additions. also still chomping at the bit to know what the "x button" mysteriousness is all about.
EDIT: it seems the "x" button may well be the instant replay thing, though that isnt stated specificly in the vid... must watch again... and again...

NOTE: All of the game footage in this doc was taken during the Alpha stage and isn’t even representative of what you’ll see in the Public Beta, let alone the final game. You will see frame rate skips, unfinished animation and graphical features that will change come Fall. All the footage is clearly marked Alpha. You’re looking at the features here folks, not the final quality bar – which we’ve set pretty high. Your next taste of that will be in May.

So, we finally know what HALO 2 looks like on a 360.

Oh wait, this is Halo THREE?! You sure? Did you actually SEE the little men performing their last-gen moves? Oh you mean the bullet/freeze-time? Well, that could have done with the first X as well.
Anyway, indeed the features looks awesome. But I sure hope the graphics are up to par when this 3rd one is being released, otherwise some bloke over at Redmond will have a hard time facing the press (and players, come to think of it).

Eh, This can no way be Halo 3. I can seriously not tell the difference between this and Xbox1 games. I'm not trying to be smart or biased here. I was actually thinking the first parts were Halo2 and had them talking about what they could improve over this for the next game...
granted, the video isn't all that, but i could definitely see how great Gears Of War looked on similar youtube video's.

With all this talk (AGAIN!) about how much we're improving multiplayer and how the weapons will be balanced and so on and so on, it better be the best damn multiplayer experience ever. I think I may be thrown off the series if this one isn't more than what I expect. They gotta stop running these games through the hype machine, it really sets the bar at like 12'7" and your decathalete player is 5'7" has a vertical of 5'1". You'll totally fall flat.

LOL! It's amazing how graphics don't matter when it suits you!

Gah...
1. The footage is ALPHA. The graphics weren't finished. Do you people not read the other comments or something?
2. The X button thing is the bubble shield/trip mine/possibly more button. Basically, ass-saving equipment.
3. SWEET! Roll on May!

Similarly, I find it amusing that people bitched when Bungie released a "pre-rendered" trailer and specifically stated as such. Comparing it to the whole Sony e3 of nonsense.
Now they come out and say, "hey, this is not at all indicative of the graphics, its just here to show you how some things work to give you an idea of what we are doing", and half the people on hear just talk about the graphics. Not a single word about the new "ass saving" button or battle rifle or any of that.
"it lookz like zee haloTooo, lAmEzz!!1"
Yea no s**t, if I'm working on a game and want to, oh, i dunno, test out a play mechanic even though the graphics aren't done yet, I might, um well, use the assets that I already have on hand as place holder perhaps?

Halo 2 was a good game without having the best graphics at that time. Gameplay is the most important thing in the long run.
