Ubisoft acquires Sunflowers, takes stake in Related Designs

French publisher makes grab for Anno owner and developer

Ubisoft has acquired SunFlowers, intellectual property owner of the 'Anno' games. Since "Anno 1602" (1602 AD in US and Australia), first released in 2000 on PC, the series has become one of the most successful real-time strategy games.

As a result of the aqcuisition, the French publisher will acquire a 30% stake in Related Designs, the developer of the latest in the 'Anno' series, 'Anno 1701'.
