Snakeball To Use PlayStation Eye
PlayStation Network goes disco

26 Apr 2007
The upcoming PlayStation Network game, Snakeball, will use the PlayStation Eye camera which was confirmed for summer release just this morning. The news comes from an announcement that also details Super Stardust HD, which will run in 1080p. SPOnG has new screens from both below.
If you get your hands on the PSEye, you'll be able to map your face onto your character. Quite how our faces will look mapped such a cartoony game we're not sure. What SPOnG does know is that we've been waiting for years to get our faces into some disco snake action...
According to Sony, Snakeball “is simply the funkiest online sport ever created.” That remains to be seen, but from the screens below it certainly looks at least a bit funky. In Sony's words, the game requires players to, “Glide across an outlandishly dazzling disco floor on a bizarre hoversnake, snapping up coloured balls to score points, while other snakeballers attempt to knock you off the top spot with flicks from their multicoloured tails or blasts from their weapons.”
SPOnG has nothing to add to that. The snake references speak for themselves.

Also detailed is Super Stardust HD, another next-gen love letter to Asteroids a la the excellent Blast Factor.
Unlike Blast Factor, however, the action's in 3D. Here's how Sony describes it: “Carve asteroids into chunks, smash them into tiny pieces, punch holes through them – just destroy them any way you can while avoiding the flying debris that results. Hordes of enemies, led by the evil Professor Schaumund, are on your tail – you’ll need to clear these bad guys off the map as well.”
Now cast your eyes across the screens below.
