Eidos Has A Handheld Nervous Brickdown

Another Breakout clone. Hopefully good.

9 May 2007

There is something deeply satisfying about smashing rows of virtual bricks with a pixelated bat and ball. Breakout, pretty much any version on any format, is very rarely anything less than addictive.

The latest version of the popular game featuring "classic bat-and-ball gameplay" is set to beNervous Brickdown (pictured) on the Nintendo DS from Eidos subsidiary Secret Stash Games, set for release later this summer.

The game has been developed by French developer Arkedo Studios and uses everything that Nintendo’s charming little handheld has to offer - dual screens, stylus, microphone and wireless multiplayer.

Add this to 135 levels set across 10 different retro game worlds including space shooters, action platforms and haunted houses – all with end of level bosses and we’re promised that Nervous Brickdown will turn "classic brick-breaking gameplay on its head."

So you might find yourself drawing your own bat with the stylus or blowing away ghosts via the microphone. This game is going to make you look very silly on public transport. Always a good thing, as it usually means you get a double seat.
