Soul Calibur Coming To Wii

Hide your fine china

9 May 2007

Polish off your swords, folks, Namco-Bandai has confirmed that the legendary Soul Calibur series is coming to the Wii.

The details, which come courtesy of Japanese gaming bible Famitsu, are scarce. What we do know is that the game will bare the name Soul Calibur Legends and will allow gamers to (in rough translation) "meet the Soul Calibur characters and fight using the Wii Remote."

The game will not follow the traditional Soul Calibur template. Instead, it will have an adventure-based format and will feature most of the cast from the previous three games.

SPOnG reckons it's about bloody time we got a beat 'em up for the Wii. So far publishers have shied away from the genre, no doubt unsure of how to map the controls onto the Wii Remote. Also: lots of swords!

Funny you should say that. I was moving furniture recently while listening to an old Angelic Upstarts LP.
