The latest version of Atari’s hugely popular Dragon Ball Z series, the ridiculously named Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is heading to Wii and PS2 later this year.

The series is described as “the gold standard of anime-based video games” (by Atari!). When you consider that the series has over 25 different games and has sold over 10 million units sold since May 2002, you see that Atari may have a point.

DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 features over 150 playable characters, enhanced fighting techniques, over 20 battle stages and refined visuals with an improved control system for the Wii to allow players to “more easily mimic signature moves and execute devastating energy attacks as they are performed in the Dragon Ball Z animated series.”

Over 20 new characters are in the game, including Nail, King Cold and King Vegeta. The in-game environments will feature day and night stages, with players being able to harness the power of the moon to transform their character. Sounds ominous.
