Capcom First Japanese Publisher on Valve’s Steam

Get ready to download a ton of quality PC titles this month

12 Jun 2007

Valve has just sent word that Capcom is to become the first Japanese publisher to distribute its titles through Valve’s Steam digital delivery service.

PC versions of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, Onimusha 3, Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, and more will be made available via Valve’s leading online distribution platform for PC.

The deal kicks off immediately with Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition (pictured) being the first title to be made available for download on Steam later this week.

"Capcom is a worldwide leader in development and publishing of action adventure titles," said Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve. "This initial set of Capcom titles coming to Steam, as well as those coming at a later date, are a perfect fit for the millions of action gaming fans connecting to Steam each week."

Steam currently serves over 13 million customers with an increasingly impressive range of both “core and casual games from today's leading publishers and developers.”

"With the PC market becoming a larger part of our business, we're naturally focusing our attention on digital distribution," said Mark Beaumont, executive vice president, officer, Capcom American and European consumer software publishing. "Steam is the right place for us to go with our titles. Valve has created a huge installed base of gamers who naturally fit with the profiles of the titles that Capcom develops."
