Cartoon Network New Media is to expand its games distribution to PS3 and Wii providing Flash-based games based on popular Cartoon Network and Adult Swim television shows through each console’s Internet browser.

The games are to be called the "MEGA Series" with the content designed to be played simultaneously with streaming video to provide gamers with a "real-time immersive experience".

Ross Cox, senior director of entertainment products, Cartoon Network New Media, said of the initiative, "We'd like to think our efforts effectively demonstrate how the console browser can be utilized as a new distribution platform."

“The development of the MEGA Series application is a great example of pushing technology to create even more robust entertainment experiences that reach consumers across a wide range of supported devices, including the Sony PS3 and Nintendo’s Wii console,” said Bill Perry, manager of developer relations for mobile and devices at Adobe.

Specific games/titles and a release date for Cartoon Network’s MEGA Series is still to be announced, but its expected to arrive sometime later this year.
