Sony And Nintendo: No Manhunt On Our Platforms
Adult-only rating forces platform holders' hands

The ESRB's Adults Only rating for Rockstar's Manhunt 2 was always going to hurt the game in U.S. retail. That hurt has now, apparently, become terminal as Sony and Nintendo have declared that they are both refusing to allow the game to be released on their platforms.
Microsoft has also declared that its policy is to ban AO-rated titles from the Xbox.
Sony's statement reads, "It's currently our policy not to allow the playback of AO-rated content on our systems."
Nintendo states, "That's why the ESRB provides ratings to help consumers understand the content of a game before they purchase it. As stated on Nintendo.com, Nintendo does not allow any AO-rated content on its systems."
Therefore, it appears that a rating of AO does not mean "Adults Only", it means "Access Omitted".

if sony was being clever and i no was never going to be coming out on ps3 but now that the game has the hype they should allow it on ps3 coz i bet it would get a lot of sales but never going to happen all i can say is can a game be that bad its not as if its the most gore fest game out there and seems the even the company that wants the older gamer has turned in to kid friendly s**t

What a bunch of hypocrits. I wonder if GTAiv turns out to be AO the GTAiii did, there policy will still be held with such strong regard.

This decision not to publish the game is a direct insult to every gamer in the world and not only that it affects are civil librates. As a reasonable adult I have a right under low to decide what films, websites and games I play. For both companies to turn round and say that they are depriving me of the option to play a game that I wont to play because it may upset me is nothing short of fascism, if I did not wont to play it I would not bye it and if I was getting upset while playing it I would stop playing it. The censorship body (which they have BBFC banning and the ESRB giving it AO rating) not the console makers should decide what age range can play the game.

It's not because the game may upset you - but if a few people go on killing rampages then Sony and Nintendo wont be in the papers for helping train these killers on their consoles.
