Some Darkness For The Weekend, Sir?
This week's releases

29 Jun 2007
The weekend has rolled round once again, and SPOnG's hoping, nay, praying (to a God we don't believe in) that the rain will return so we have an excuse to sit in and blast away at The Darkness.
Yes, the couch calls. As do some strange and disturbing voices inside us. “Devour his heart,” they mutter... So SPOnG intends to indulge them. In a non-violent, virtual manner of course. Having gulped down a few beating bleeders we're sure our sense of morality will kick in and, realising that The Darkness game is an 18+ and the equivalent to a US AO title, we'll be crying “ban this sick filth!” You can read about the psychological damage already done to us by playing the sick filth here.
Capcom's Resident Evil 4 sits handsomely below The Darkness in this week's new releases pile. Sure, we've seen it all before a few years ago, but we really, really liked it. The title's Wii release gives us the perfect opportunity to re-visit the horror that lies deep in the heart of rural Europe and see how the Wii's controls fare when plugging away at the undead.
Next on the list is a game that's not exactly top of SPOnG's priority list, but its looming presence is somewhat undeniable. Harry's back, complete with phallic object in his hand and wicked scar on his face. The Order of The Phoenix is the fifth instalment in the Harry Potter series, and all kinds of things are happening to him. He's getting older, discovering girls, forming a group of young vigilante wizards... And, of course, he's getting another game on every platform you can shake a wand at courtesy of EA.

New platform releases of existing big-name shooters seems to be the order of the week. As well as Resident Evil 4, Capcom's bringing Lost Planet to the PC this week, complete with a few graphical tweaks. You can find out what SPOnG thought of the 360 version of Lost Planet here.
Also out this week (some three months late, we might add) is Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas for the PS3, as well as its little brother the PSP. When the opportunity to waste your life gambling needs defending, someone has to step up amidst all the neon decadence and feather boas. Similarly, GRAW 2 gets the treatment and sees release on the PC this week.
Also out this week are: Beta Bloc, Call of Juarez, Dino Master, Driver: Parallel Lines, F24 Stealth Fighter, the Wii version of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, G1 Jockey, Global Defence Force, Harlem Globetrotters World Tour, Hot Brain, Hour of Victory, Mech Assault: Phantom War, More Brain Training, Nacho Libre, Overlord, Panzer Elite: Gold Edition, Project Fashion, Project Sylpheed, SBK – 07, Super Black Bass Fishing, Tenchu Z, The Sims 2 Deluxe, Tony Hawks Downhill Jam on the PS2, UFO: Extraterrestrials, and Vampire Rain.
If that lot isn't enough to keep you busy until Monday, then tell us what you're waiting for in the forum.

Got this for my 360!, on Friday it's fucking awesome, i dont think i've seen enviroments & people brought to life like the kind u get in this game, it's dripping with atmosphere & blood!! this has gotta be one of the most graphic games i've played, but it's all in context & works beautifully. I couldnt wait to get cracking on this game, I feel sorry for the PS3 owners.... not because they have to wait a month to play it, i just feel generally sorry for them.... haha....
