Good will does impair!

Atari To Declare Huge Financial Loss
Atari has confirmed that it will post a $71.3m (£35.4m) loss for the financial year ending March 31st.

That total equates to $5.29 per share and comes in £1.2 million more than last year's $69m (£34.2) loss.

The figure comes after a delay in posting the results following Atari's admission that it needed to calculate a goodwill impairment charge. The figure posted now exactly matches Atari's earlier estimate.

If Atari did not have to include the goodwill impairment charge in its losses, the figure would be down at $17.2m (£8.52m).

Ah well, at least Atari has its new equestrian license coming up to boost sales...

Was 'descent' a deliberate pun there?

Lol. That's part of the joke I guess. Atari don't really make games anymore but perhaps a buyout by someone like Nintendo, MS or Capcom would give them a swift kick to make some decent original stuff.

I know that the company formerly known as Infrogames bares the Atari name (and strangely the persona for not doing much games).

Capcom and Rockstar would be an awesome combination of talent though.
