Gears Of War To Be Announced On PC At E3

Ironically confirmed by Epic’s cease and desist notices

The fact that Epic’s marvellous Gears of War is heading to PC soon is one of the current worst-kept secrets in the games industry, with Epic’s Mark Rein being on record as saying that a PC port of the game would follow the 360 mega blockbuster ‘eventually’

A gameplay montage video of the PC version of Gears of War found its way to the internet earlier this week, soon followed by a flurry of cease and desist letters from Epic’s lawyers. Basically, and somewhat ironically, confirming the rumour.

The PC port apparently boasts tarted-up visuals, as you would expect, along with new maps and new boss fights.

SPOnG will no doubt bring you ‘the official’ announcement from Microsoft's E3 press conference, which takes place at Santa Monica High School this coming Tuesday.

We expect that Gears of War will be announced as part of Microsoft’s Games for Windows Live initiative. We also hope and pray to the lord of videogames that it is not going to be a god-damn Vista exclusive!

That's good news but there's also danger. MS have to realise that the PC still has no standard control pad and thus misses out of lot of games because of it. This needs sorting out. PC still misses out on DOA4/VF5 etc because of no pad.

If they are trying to push games for Windows they have to make it available via 2000 and XP. Just dumping it on Vista is pigeon wholing the thing unnnecessarily. So is the Windows Live service, which should just be free (but they now want you to pay, that's wrong).

Kinda hoping the controls don't work as well on PC, as it will push home the need of a standard PC control pad, more.

If cross platform play ever happens with Gears, that would be cool, but we don't need FPS PC types desicrating the Gears, lol. Just kidding.
