Bombing and Kung Fu Strike Xbox Live

But don't worry, it's not ninja terrorists

The early days of Bomberman.
17 Jul 2007

As of 9am tomorrow Xbox 360 owners will be able to download Bomberman Live and Yie Ar Kung Fu via Xbox Live Arcade.

Bomberman Live comes from Hudson Entertainment, bringing a next-gen sheen to the classic Bomberman experience. As you'd expect, it brings HD graphics to the series and will allow four players to compete on the same machine or eight players to compete online. Hudson is also boasting an impressive 10,000 possible customisations for your Bomberman.

Hudson tells us:

”In Bomberman Live, players guide their unique Bomberman around a grid-like arena, avoiding opponents and their bombs while attempting to bomb the competition. Bomberman Live features eight multiplayer arenas including Lost World, where players can sink in puddles of quicksand, and Ghost Town, where players can fall into trap doors. By destroying blocks, players can reveal 16 different power-ups (and power-downs!) from the simple 'Speed Up' to the devastating 'Dangerous Bomb.'”

Yie Ar Kung Fu comes from Konami and brings the arcade classic up to date with next-gen panache. Konami describes it thusly:

“Training his whole life, Oolong is on a quest to become the ultimate champion. To fulfil his destiny, Oolong must face and defeat masters of the throwing shuriken, nunchaku, bo, chain and more at the Martial Arts Championship. With enhanced graphics, hand painted backgrounds and new achievements, this classic fighting game is sure to test any player’s skills.”

Yie Ar Kung Fu features an online leaderboard but, alas, no multiplayer.

Both titles come with the usual 12 Achievements and 200 Gamerscore points. Bomberman Live will set you back 800 Microsoft Points, while Yie Ar Kung Fu costs 400.
