Birmingham's Omega Sektor Opens 10th August – Pics Inside
UK’s biggest ever gaming centre opens it doors
Posted 24 Jul 2007

Birmingham’s soon-to-open interactive gaming centre, Omega Sektor (pictured here), is by far the biggest location of its type to open in the U.K. – it is undoubtedly 'A Very Good Thing' for both gamers and the British games industry - and SPOnG wishes the guys behind this ambitious project all the very best.
Omega Sektor contains over 440 bleeding-edge top-end PCs as well as a designated console gaming area with massive fancy high definition tellies to play on.
There’s also an MP3-enabled café! We're not quite sure how that works but one thing is for sure – it certainly sounds like The Future!
The centre, located on Birmingham’s Corporation Street, opens its doors on 10th August, to capitalise on the legions of bored summer holiday kids across the country desperate for something new to entertain themselves with, other than sitting at home constantly updating their MySpace pages.
Omega Sekor's Adrian Le Mans commented, "LAN centres are traditionally quite small and only offer gaming and internet access. Omega Sektor will offer visitors an all-round entertainment experience - from playing some of the hundred plus games to watching films, listening to music and meeting with friends in the cafes and chill-out areas..."; it also boasts what is apparently, "Birmingham’s largest internet café".
SPOnG will be paying the centre a visit in the coming weeks to bring you our full impressions of the Omega Sektor experience.

Sounds good and looks great. We need more of these around the country. So long as everyone is invited, and not just the angry youth.

lol! I'm actually slightly scared about paying this place a visit next month because of the afore-mentioned 'angry youth'!
My nerves have been shot since one of the little blighters shouted "nice hair, grandad" at me in the street the other day.
Perhaps Omega Sektor should have over 25s nights - and/or the equivalent of the 'grab-a-granny' night for aging, single gamers!

It would be cool if all could enjoy gaming without any ageism, but with young people they are gonna stress about it.

i think it just means the waiter is wearing an ipod?

I wouldn't worry about "angry youth". Gamers aren't really the angry horrible type most often. It will be awesome when it opens. Everyone should definately pop down.

Hi my name is Flash and I work at Omega Sektor Birmingham.
To let anyone who reads this know the center is now thriving especially at the weekends. We have run several of our own events as well as hosting events for CGS and Kode5.
We are currently running an offer for unlimited game play. The offer is 20 pounds for 30 days unlimited game play. this is a total bargain and way under a pound a day as much gaming as you can manage.
Hope to see people in soon
