David Jaffe, the creator of God of War, has left Sony Computer Entertainment America to form a new studio with Incognito co-founder Scott Campbell called 'Eat, Sleep, Play'.

The news is not the blow for Sony's Santa Monica studios that some might speculate, as the pair have secured an exclusive development deal with SCEA. The new studio will work on several projects for the PlayStation family over the next few years. The first is further entry into the Twisted Metal series, which Jaffe and Campbell have worked on together in the past.

Jaffe's move has been rumoured for some time now, but this is the first public confirmation from Sony.

"We are extremely pleased to be working with David and Scott and supporting them in their new endeavor", said SCEA's senior vice president of product development, Shuhei Yoshida.

"Through hit after hit, they have established themselves as two of the most talented individuals this industry has ever seen, and I look forward to seeing what kind of further gaming innovation they can bring to the PlayStation brand through our new development deal".

Sony has stated that the “core members of the team” working on Incognito's current project, Warhawk, “remain in the SCEA Santa Monica Studios fold” to continue development on the game.
