The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) has outlined this years Tokyo Games Show (TGS). As expected, following the downsizing of E3 this will be the largest show in TGS's history.
168 exhibitors have signed up so far, including Sony and Microsoft, with major publishers such as SEGA, Square Enix, Namco Bandai, Capcom and Konami. They will occupy 1,708 booth units compared to last year's 1,701 units occupied by 148 exhibitors last year.
The show is expected to draw 180,000 people over its four days - and at least two of these will be SPOnG's ace reporters. So, if there's anything you particularly want to know - questions to the Forum please.
This year will also see TGS incorporated into the Japan International Contents Festival (CoFesta), a cross-media event conceived this year to promote Japanese creativity. The festival also incorporates events promoting Japanese music, animation, manga, broadcasting and film occurring around the same time.
This year's show will also feature a larger international presence than has been seen previously. There will be 51 exhibitors from countries outside Japan, with companies from the U.K., the U.S., Canada, Australia, Holland, Sweden, Korea, Taiwan and China among others.
As has been announced previously, the business-only component of the show has been expanded to incorporate two days, with Sony CEO Kaz Hirai (pictured) to keynote.
"With numerous major titles set to go on sale, this year's game show serves as an ideal forum for titles to steal a lead in the run-up to the critical end-of-year and New Year sales season, which can be expected to draw even greater interest from visitors to last year's event," said CESA.
