Halo 3 Record Breaker Already?

Over a million Halo 3s have been pre-ordered and that figure is set to rise.

With a release date of September the 25th Halo 3 has smashed all pre-order records with over one million pre-orders having been made in America alone.

According to Microsoft, Halo 3 has broken all previous records and may even be sold out of the Legendary edition before the game is actually launched. With big brand companies such as Mountain Dew and 7-Eleven helping advertising for the game it is unsurprising that the game has been doing so well. Even so most stores are amazed at the rate the game is selling despite the fact that it is not out for another month.

Though Britain is probably not going to receive its own limited edition Halo branded Mountain Dew it is expected that the game will also do big business for Microsoft. The special edition Halo 3 Xbox 360 should be out soon in the U.S. as well, and judging by these trends it could sell out almost as quickly as the Wii did. Until then, have a look at the hi-res images below.

man I want one of those...but with the matching wireless headset...

no real surprise here though...this is about as close to a lock for a slam dunk as anything gets...like Mario, or Gran Turismo (well a real Gran Turismo, dunno about the upcoming Prequel?)

I never saw what all the fuss was about with Halo. After starting on Doom and graduating through Doom II, Duke Nukem 3D, Heretic, Hexen, Quake 1-3, Half Life and TimeSplitters, by the time Halo came out it felt totally underwhelming. Like Quake but with crappy peashooters and less grit. Stupid dayglo aliens and naff weapons do not make a great FPS. The whole design does nothing for me, it always felt like a FPS for people who had never played a FPS. Multiplayer was alright but didn't really offer anything I'd not seen before, and was not a patch on Duke Nukem networked deathmatches.

I had a paragraph or three arguing with you, but I decided that you need most of your time to reassure yourself about your 'superior' console by dogging others'.

Do I go on about how completely unoriginal Resistance is? No, its an enjoyable game, and thats enough. Sony gets full credit for incorporating other peoples ideas effectively. Obviously they learned a few lessons from their last mediocre derivative FPS.
