Wii Gets Star Wars Lightsaber Action
Lucasarts has confirmed what every Star Wars fanboy/Nintendo fanboy/person in their right mind has been waiting for ever since the Wii Remote was first revealed: lightsaber action on the Wii!

Specifically, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will hit the Wii next spring alongside versions for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. According to LucasArts, players will get "the unique chance to live out their Jedi fantasies by wielding the Wii Remote as a lightsaber while using the Nunchuk controller to torment foes with their Force powers."

Additionally, the Wii version - which is being developed by Krome Studios - will offer up a 'duel mode' which will pit friends against each other for a spot of saber play.

"The Wii is a great platform for The Force Unleashed, because the console's motion-oriented controllers really bring the game to life," said Jim Ward, President of LucasArts in a bout of corporo-enthusiasm. "We've worked hard to make the Wii version of the game unique in order to truly let you unleash the Force."

The Force Unleashed, which takes place between episodes III and IV, sets players in the robes of Darth Vader's secret apprentice. Players will help the Big bad in his quest to destroy the remaining Jedi and, wait for it... "face decisions that could change the course of their destiny."

A late annoucement of a Wii version of a game that's already in development for every other platform?

Tacked on motion controls anyone?

Wii price £40, 360 price £40...I think I will take the better HD graphics and achievemants and perhaps downloadable content than PS2 visuals and a novelty controller.

@ both previous posts

and what? swing your 360 pad to voice made lightsaber noise? you cant comment on how it will work or look, until you have played it, maybe the wii version will be better all round maybe it was already in development for Wii first but they havent annouced it until the controls were perfected, dont judge something you have no knowledge about.

Oh I know exactly how its going to be, just like every other Wii game - noise from the speaker on the controller and the swinging of the arm with terrible graphics on screen but with overpriced pricing.

360 version will be the best one for actual gaming.

Sure it might seem fun to hear the sabre clash etc on the Wiimote but nothing lasts forever.

Don't you mean Wii RRP of £40 and 360 RRP of £50, resulting in Wii ~£30 and 360 ~£40 when bought online? It helps if you stop comparing retail vs likely discounted prices, you know.

Also, if developers could get off their arses, it won't be PS2 visuals. Whilst it will never be in HD, it's just lazy porting that's the problem with Wii graphics at the moment.

Well the RRP of the Wii version is likely to be £40 and most likely £40 or £45 for the 360 version not £50 EA like to charge £50 which is insane but then again I have not seen any regular games for £50 in GAME or Gamestation for ages.

Yes its lazy development considering Res Evil 0 looked awesome on the Cube the Wii has better spec compared to the Cube so the visuals should be much better but they are not I dont think developers have ever been interesting in spending time developing for Nintendo Cube or now the Wii especially considering the graphics the Xbox 360 and PS3 are capable of.

As much fun it might seem on the Wii the 360 will be the better version for the most extras I reckon and visuals and online content or play or both we will see.

Well, it is scheduled for spring 2008 by a team that allready has expercience with the Wii from the new Spyro-game that actually looked quite good from the last trailer i saw, especially the texturing.

plus an exclusive mode...whatever that means.

This seams to me like a point less agument big studeos can make a game that uses the wii controls well and make it a better game than the 360 PS3 version. The profh of this is the lates Harry potter, now am not saying it a great game it was good on the wii as it was controled in a way that maid you feel mor involved in the world. Also give that to quote spong "what every Star Wars fanboy/Nintendo fanboy/person in their right mind has been waiting for ever since the Wii Remote was first revealed" they woul;d not do t unless it worked in some way.
