PS3 Rumble On Show At TGS

EA makes a blunder

19 Sept 2007

Electronic Arts would seem to have let the cat out of the bag in a big way for Sony. A rumbling Sixaxis has been spotted - or rather felt - at an EA pre-Tokyo Games Show press event.

IGN reports that while playing EA's upcoming racer Burnout Paradise they got a strangely familiar surprise - force feedback! Apparently the pad looks exactly the same as a regular Sixaxis barring a sticker on the bottom bearing the legend, "Rumble".

Unsurprisingly, it weighs more than a standard PS3 controller, while the rumble feels roughly equivalent to that of the PS2.

If the report is accurate, it certainly lends credibility to rumours that tommorrow's TGS keynote from Sony Computer Entertainment president Kaz Hirai will see rumble for the PS3 officially announced.

When SPOnG asked Sony on Monday whether the rumours were true, we were told, "I have no comment at this time. We don't have any information."

Meanwhile, EA will no doubt be facing an unhappy Sony. Unless, of course, this was a calculated exercise in building hype...

aww, c'mon! change the design already!
I'm willing to give the boomerang one a try... or just make this one a little bigger. I prefferred the size of the original (pre-shock) dual analogue, that was more comfy, or at least let's hope they sort the 'loose' analogue sticks out. *sigh*
