EA makes a blunder

Electronic Arts would seem to have let the cat out of the bag in a big way for Sony. A rumbling Sixaxis has been spotted - or rather felt - at an EA pre-Tokyo Games Show press event.

IGN reports that while playing EA's upcoming racer Burnout Paradise they got a strangely familiar surprise - force feedback! Apparently the pad looks exactly the same as a regular Sixaxis barring a sticker on the bottom bearing the legend, "Rumble".

Unsurprisingly, it weighs more than a standard PS3 controller, while the rumble feels roughly equivalent to that of the PS2.

If the report is accurate, it certainly lends credibility to rumours that tommorrow's TGS keynote from Sony Computer Entertainment president Kaz Hirai will see rumble for the PS3 officially announced.

When SPOnG asked Sony on Monday whether the rumours were true, we were told, "I have no comment at this time. We don't have any information."

Meanwhile, EA will no doubt be facing an unhappy Sony. Unless, of course, this was a calculated exercise in building hype...

aww, c'mon! change the design already!
I'm willing to give the boomerang one a try... or just make this one a little bigger. I prefferred the size of the original (pre-shock) dual analogue, that was more comfy, or at least let's hope they sort the 'loose' analogue sticks out. *sigh*

Oh come on now, the PS2/3 pad is soooo comfy compared (for example) to the 360's... it's a classic design, stick with it! Mmmmm, lovely symmetry...
Now that rumble is back- back- back!!! (©1988 Smash Hits magazine) PS3 is going to be the beautiful, dominating machine it always threatened to be. I swore I'd not buy one until rumble returned- even though I REALLY wanted one- and I have stuck by that but will definitely be getting one now.

Saying that, I'd LOVE a limited edition boomerang/sex toy controller.

Sony lieing again confirmed
Sony thinking everyone has small hands and short fingers confirmed
Sony not knowing that the analog stick needs to be in the dominant position two generations ago confirmed

in conclusion:
Sony not knowing what the hell its doing, check.

I will rebute ths with one simple equasion

Customer = king

So yes, the Dual shock is extremely flawed for anyone who have reasonable long fingers, and since everyone is getting bigger every generation, fingers will as well be longer making the dual shock design even more flawed and as future proof as investing in zeppelins.

I'm in no mood to have cramped, twitching into the inside fingers in less then half a hour because some designer team has its head up its ass, thinking everyone is japanese.
