BAVGA Nominations – Full Listings Inside
It’s the Games BAFTA’s next month – proof positive that Britain’s cultural establishment is finally taking notice of the artistic merit of gaming – with the full list of BAFTA nominees just in.

SPOnG will be there on the night next month with all the other games industry luminaries and liggers, slurping up the free fizz and praying that Cake Mania doesn’t win any awards - that would clearly make a mockery of the whole event!

“The event will also be broadcast on Channel 4 and on T4 and we will be announcing more details on the host for the event and more in the coming weeks”, BAFTA/BAVGA event organiser Kelly Smith informed SPOnG earlier today.

Tell us in the forum what you think of the committee’s decisions. Here are the nominations in full:

How can any games award show be taken seriously when games that arent even released yet are nominated..... When was the last time an oscar has been given to an unreleased film?

This shows that Games are still way behind on being treated with a bit of intelligence.

I suspect it is because most of the panel are journalists that have played through preview builds of pre-release games.

What does it say when not a single PSP game is on there?

Not a damn thing, given that "Grand Theft Auto:Vice City Stories (PSP)" is listed.

Duh!
