Ubisoft has stated that it has no interest in buying the SCi Group, which owns Eidos, the publisher of Tomb Raider.

Speaking to news agency Reuters, a Ubisoft representative said, "Ubisoft has no intention of making an offer for SCI-Eidos."

This comes following speculation that Ubisoft is a prime candidate for purchasing the company.

With Ubisoft removed from the running, Warner Bros, which already owns a 10% stake in the company and has plans to increase its presence in the games industry, looks increasingly like the most viable candidate. Speculation has also put EA, the world's biggest third-party publisher, as a possible buyer.

Meanwhile, SCi's recent financial results have a distinct whiff of gloom about them, with the company having posted a £30 million loss.
