Metal Gear Solid 4 - DELAYED
No Snake this winter

Snake's back isn't what it used to be.
31 Oct 2007
Konami has announced that Metal Gear Solid 4 will see release in the second quarter of 2008. In other words: it will be late. Don't worry though, folks, it's all in the name of making "further improvements"!
Konami had previously intended to release the game this winter, and said as much at the Tokyo Game Show.
The excuse for the delay, in Konami's words, runs:
"Konami has decided to delay the title's release in order to make further improvements to the quality of the game and provide even greater enjoyment for more customers worldwide. Konami will continue its efforts to make Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots meet everyone's expectations."

We can't fault Konami for wanting to make MGS4 all it can be, but we also can't fault Sony if it's spitting poison right now. Sony could really use a big, platform-exclusive system seller to do unto the PS3 what Halo 3 has done unto the 360.
You can read up on MGS4 over on SPOnG's dedicated game page.

Funnily enough, if MGS4 was to release in Q1 2008 anyway it would be contending with Super Smash Bros. Brawl. A hardcore game that, despite its cult nature, is holding a hell of a load of weight right now.
Hopefully Sony can tide the wait over with some other great games.
