Bethesda On Forthcoming Elder Scrolls MMO
Latest on its new MMO group ‘ZeniMax Online Studios’
Posted 5 Nov 2007

Much online chatter over the weekend just gone has centred on the fact that legendary RPG developer, Bethesda, they of Oblivion and Fallout 3 fame, has registered new a new website address of elderscrollsonline.com
SPOnG caught up briefly with Bethesda’s Pete Hines late last week who told us the following about the recent $300 million cash injection - a chunk of which will be directed towards Bethesda’s new MMO group:
“This investment allows Bethesda to continue to grow and pursue our previously announced initiatives. That includes work now going on with our new MMO group (ZeniMax Online Studios), as well as the titles that we are working on.”
He added: “I don't think that this funding changes our focus in terms of what we are about and are trying to accomplish. The additional resources will allow us to expand our publishing efforts-both our own titles and those of other studios-and to pursue development of more titles, working with internal and external development teams.”
Hmmm, cagey stuff.
Questions you would like us to put to Bethesda when we next see them in the forum below please… (Ideally questions that will generate answers other than further lengthy variations on ‘no comment’).

It says $300 million which is about £150 million!! How could you make a game for $300 or in pounds £150! (NOOB)

It's been stated in the past that the folks at Bethesda were never interested in creating an ES MMO, since it would drastically change how the game would play. Although $300 million can change anyone's tune. Here's to hoping. :)

Actually i think the comment they made about not wanting to make an MMO was specifically about an Oblivion MMO. They never said they didnt want to make an ES MMO.
