The Xbox 360 does the bulk of the heavy lifting for CoD 4, with Microsoft's platform taking 63% of the game's total sales. The 360 stock keeping unit (SKU) claims the honour of having the 11th biggest all format sell-through ever; it also comes second only to Halo 3 in terms Xbox 360.
Another strong debut comes in the form of THQ's WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008 for the PS2, 360, PSP and PS3. It slips into the Charts at Number 2 like a well oiled man in brightly coloured underpants. The PS2 claims the largest chunk of the sales, grabbing 44% of the total.
Electronic Arts spends another week at Number 3 with The Simpsons, which adds the PSP and PS3 versions to its platform roster in this week's Charts.
Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 drops three places from Number 1 to Number 4, followed by another ball-kicker in the form of FIFA 08 from EA.
Nintendo’s Brain Training titles perform well, helped by strong DS sales in the run up to Greedmas. The original climbs to Number 6, while its sequel comes in just behind it at Number 7.
Other titles joining the fray and hoping to take a share of the festive pie are Disney's High School Musical: Sing It! for the PS2 at Number 12, and Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga from LucasArts for the PS2 and 360 at Number 17.
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction performs disappointingly for Sony, entering the Charts at Number 19. You can catch SPOnG's review here.
Next week we've got a few biggies to watch for. Topping the list are Super Mario Galaxy and Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed, but also keep an eye on Beowulf and Raving Rabbids 2 – both from Ubisoft again, Midway's Blacksite: Area 51, and EA's shooter duo, Crysis and Army of Two.
