MP Requests Figures On Violent Games Linked To Murder Cases
Keith Vaz, unsurprisingly
Posted 15 Nov 2007

Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith
Labour MP and vehement anti-videogame campaigner Keith Vaz posed a rather bizarre question in Parliament this week to Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith.
Vaz asked the Home Secretary the following question:
To which Parliamentary Under-Secretary Vernon Coaker, responding on the Home Secretary’s behalf, replied, “The Home Office does not collect information on how many violent attacks and murders are judged to be linked to violent video games".
It’s clear to SPOnG that Vaz posed the question knowing full well the answer he was going to receive.
Here's a suggestion for Mr Vaz: maybe you could make use of his own Staffing Allowance of £87,088 (putting him at 192nd from 645 members) or his Additional Costs Allowance of £22,110 (putting him joint 1st) to carry out the necessary research into this absurd correlation? Or maybe it was more a trumpet blowing exercise?±
SPOnG is putting yet another request in to Mr Vaz's office for an interview regarding his stance on video gaming and his role as a constituency MP.

Jebus... it bloody is Irene as well. What next, Holly Valance as Minister of State for Communications? Harold Bishop as, well, a bishop?
My mind is boggling...
