Rainbow Six Vegas 2 On The Way

More Sin City shootings to come

The very first screen.

Ubisoft has announced that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is on the way to delight folk who love shooting up Sin City.

As you'd expect, Ubisoft tells us that the game is bound for "next generation consoles" (read "PS3 and Xbox 360") and the PC. Ubisoft also tells us that the game will be here in March 2008, just four months from now.

Ubisoft Montreal, which handled the first game in the series, will handle development chores.

Beyond that, the details are a bit woolly. We're promised "new gameplay features and even more stunning visuals", as well as "an intense solo campaign that uses new tactical possibilities in various locations around Sin City". Ubisoft also promises to "break new ground in both co-op and adversarial modes". There's little, unfortunately, of substance.

Ubisoft did go to the trouble of getting a corporo-quote from its president and CEO Yves Guillemot, however. "Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas took the gaming world by storm in 2006 thanks to its technological advances and gameplay innovations", he said. "We are convinced that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will remain a pioneer in the highly competitive first person shooter genre, bringing more of what Rainbow Six fans love to the table".
