Galaxy Is Fastest Selling Mario Game Ever

Well, in it's first week. That’s what Nintendo tells us.

21 Nov 2007

The first ‘internal’ sales figures from Nintendo of America (NOA) for Super Mario Galaxy suggest that the game sold over half a million copies in its first week on sale in the US. This makes it "the best-selling Mario title ever in its first week" according to NoA's soon-to-depart Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communication, George Harrison.

The game is up there as one of SPOnG’s games of 2007, as you can see from our recent review where we awarded it a whopping 98% score.

The critical reception is pretty much universal, with almost-perfect scores across the board. GameRankings.com lists Super Mario Galaxy as the best-reviewed game of all time and Metacritic.com lists Galaxy as having "Universal Acclaim," with a score of 98 out of 100.

I have no idea why soo many people like this game, I watched this game being played and it was absolutly rubbish.

This attachment that many have for Mario I will never understand just a fat plumber that apparently can now run as fast as Sonic thanks to the new Mario and Sonic at the olympics and this.

With Zelda I can understand, I played a couple of titles and can see the interest but Mario? Oh come on!

Nintendo have minted the Mario name a lot and it wont be long before the only type of game on a Nintendo system is MARIO.
