Haze And Splinter Cell Conviction Delayed

No Haze this Greedmas

21 Nov 2007

Ubisoft giveth and Ubisoft taketh away. While we may have just been given the happy news that a second Rainbow Six Vegas game is on the way, it has surfaced that both Haze and Splinter Cell Conviction have slipped.

Ubisoft's earnings report for the first half of fiscal 2007-2008 tells us:

"Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction, previously scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007-08, will now form part of a stronger line-up for fiscal 2008-09.

"Lastly, Haze – which was due for release during the third quarter of fiscal 2007-08 – will now be launched in the fourth fiscal quarter."

For "fourth fiscal quarter" you can read "after Christmas, before the end of March".

It seems that the delays haven't taken Ubisoft by surprise, either. The publisher also tells us, "The targets previously announced by Ubisoft remain unchanged as they already took into account the possible impact of these delays as a preventive measure".

For Conviction, the words, "will now form part of a stronger line-up for fiscal 2008-09" suggest that the game has been pushed back for financial reasons.

For Haze, however, the reasoning is unclear. It's only been just over a week since a Ubisoft release schedule told us that Haze had slipped out of November and back to December 14th. Another slip, so soon after, suggests that touch ups to the game may be in order.

SPOnG has contacted Ubisoft to find out more, but no comment was available at the time of press.

I just want to point out that Ubisoft have never delayed games to improve them the proof is clearly visible from ALL their games that they have released this gen.

Best example was GRAW 1 on the 360 it was delayed and Ubisoft claimed it was to improve on the game...But it had many bugs and glitches in the game.

Assasins Creed comes out and look at the issues I mean surely after all this time they could have got rid of screen tearing!!

I am pretty sure they are going to use the money from Assasins Creed to continue working on the 2 titles and if my guess is right HAZE will probably come out on the PS3 AND 360 at the same time.

As far as the latest SplinterCell goes am in no rush for it personally but that was agreed with Ubisoft and Microsoft to be an exclusive for the 360 but I guess we will see what happens.

Last gen Ubisoft were great some pretty nice games apart from the latest Rainbow 6 that they failed on quite bad, I think thats when they lost it.

Oh yes there is screen tearing in Assasins Creed are you playing in HD? I am and it has it, and my friends can see it as well.

Yes I am aware Free Radical are making this, I really enjoyed the last TimeSplitters in fact I loved it! Awesome game but very short.
