Wii Sports-Alike Screens Inside
More frantic arm waving coming soon
Posted 4 Jan 2008

Apparently it's been long enough since Wii Sports launched - it is now time again for a set of arm-waving casual games for the athletically inclined. Hudson Entertainment certainly thinks so, anyway. The company has just officially announced Deca Sports for America and released a fresh batch of screens and character renders.
While this might be the first official announcement for the States, Konami has said that it will release the game over here under the name Sports Island.
The Wii-exclusive will feature 10 sports to tire your arms with. Namely: Beach Volleyball, Snowboard Cross, Badminton, Basketball, Curling, Archery, Figure Skating, Supercross, Soccer and Kart Racing. Yes! Curling! As you'd expect, the game will be controlled by making various motions with the Wii Remote in hand.
"We have seen tremendous growth in the casual sports gaming market in the last few years, and saw an opportunity that would be a perfect fit for the Nintendo Wii", said John Greiner, President and CEO of Hudson Entertainment. "With Deca Sports we wanted to offer a sports package that is unrivaled in terms of sheer number of available sports. More importantly, the game is easy to play, but offers layers of depth that even hardcore sports enthusiasts will love to play."
The game is set for release in the second quarter of this year in Europe. For more information check out SPOnG's dedicated game page.
But hold on just one second... Figure Skating? Sport? We don't care what anybody says; we don't care if we look unreconstructed; we don't care if we're missing the post-bloody-irony! If Figure Skating is a sport then we want to see the Royal Ballet going after the freaking Kirov in this year's Olympics - for the battement tendu en croix gold medal!

What I want to know is, what about my Mii, that I spent so long creating? If I can't use myself as a character, I might as well just continue to play Wii Sports.

Yeah I agree with realvictory's comment - I'm not going to bother with this title unless I can use all the Miis I've created and downloaded. From the screenshots it looks very good though. Otherwise I'll just hang on for Wii Sports 2

This Hudson effort is much needed as Nintendo are being snails with Wii Sports 2. Good move Hudson, and the sooner we get this the better.
Don't you guys know yet? Mii's were the biggest gimmick about Wii, and this is coming from a big Nintendo gamer. Like friend codes, its up to developers and publishers if they support Mii's or not. Only Nintendo are really gonna bother, as Mii's are their creation.
