Wii Outsold PS3 3 To 1 in Japan for 2007
While DS outsold the lot

7 Jan 2008
More post-2007 figures have emerged into the world - this time for Japan. Nintendo, it turns out, sold three times as many Wiis as Sony did PlayStation 3s.
3.63 million Wiis were sold in Japan, according to market researcher Enterbrain. Sony, meanwhile, managed to sell 1.21 million PS3s. The Xbox 360, predictably, trailed at the back with 257,841 units sold.
The DS, meanwhile, led the pack with 7.14 million units sold. The PSP managed 3.02 million sales.
Overall, the Japanese games industry had a record year, up 9.9 percent from the previous year to 687.7 billion yen (£3.2 billion). The hardware market grew 25.0 percent to 327.41 billion yen (£1.52 billion) while the software market shrank 1 percent to 360.25 billion yen (£1.67 billion).

Come on SPoNG, bite the bullet. Good sportsmanship? No?
I don't think that's ironic - maybe you're just taking this a little too seriously. Why not read a book, or buy a loving pet, such as a dog?

So when do we get the "Wii massacres PS3" news item? I'm still waiting. Last month, after PS3's pricecut when PS3 outsold Wii for 2 consecutive weeks *gasp* and a total of 50.000 units *gasp* SPoNG felt the need to post a news item about PS3 "PWNing" Wii.Come on SPoNG, bite the bullet. Good sportsmanship? No?

Well, maybe they should pick their words more carefully, as it's pretty ironic to say a system that had its ass handed to it in sales for a good 12 months, finally -after a pricecut- outsells the other system and "PWNs" it. It's like saying in a soccer match, when the home team scores 1-5 that it's "PWNing" the visitors because they scored a goal.
