Nintendo: Wii Will Rock Xbox 360 in US by June

Nintendo president says Wii sales to surpass those of Xbox 360 soon

Bullish Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aime, has opened his mouth again. This time, he tells us that the Wii's total sales will surpass those of the Xbox 360 in the US by June.

He pointed to Super Smash Bros. Brawl as one of the games that will drive Wii sales past those of its Microsoft rival.

By SPOnG's reckoning (using the NPD figures released for console lifetimes as of December 31st 2007 combined with January sales figures) Nintendo had sold 7,674,000 Wiis as of the end of January, while Microsoft had sold 9,380,000. Given the Wii's consistently strong sales in the US, it looks likely that it will overtake the 360 - whether it will do it by June, however, remains to be seen.

Smash Bros became the fastest Wii game to hit one million sales in Japan after it launched on January 31st.

Like ah yebb-debba-doo, the Wii's for you too! When the Rubbles come over, we have a Wii night. Poor Dino hates Wii fit- he's a tad overweight for a brontasaurus of his height. Betty is the thinnest of us all, although you didn't hear me say that about ANYONE else other than Wilma! Like yebba-debba-doo, the Wii will rock you!
