Win a Telly for Your Halo 3 Skillz
Sign up for European tournament open now

25 Feb 2008
Microsoft has announced that registration for 'The Official Halo 3 European Tournament' (catchy name, eh?) kicks off today.
Open play in the tournament runs from the 18th to 30the March. Open play will pit players against each their countrymen (or even women). The top ranking player from each country will win a piece of 'exclusive' framed Halo artwork and will earn themselves entry into the European Final. The game modes will be 'Slayer', 'King of the Hill' and 'Oddball'.
To sign up for the tournament, players just need to head on over to the Xbox Live Dashboard and click on the appropriate link.
Samsung is sponsoring the event. Thanks to Microsoft's more than liberal peppering of its announcement with that fact, SPOnG didn't really want to tell you that. We felt, however, that the fact that we're a cantankerous bunch of bastards shouldn't stop you from being informed that the company has provided a '40 HD TV and an Xbox 360 Elite as prizes...

My Halo skillz lie almost solely in halo 2. I thought 3 was a step down gameplay-wise. sniper aiming is wierd, sword battles are idiotic with the newly-introduced clashing, gravity hammer is worthless in most levels, melee attacks don't connect, SMG is now useless with the return of assault rifle, and the list goes on...

I am sorry but I have to disagree with your questionable comments. Halo 3 is excellent (as confirmed by most critics and right thinking people) and if you are having trouble with it then I suggest that is solely down to a lack of practice and an unwillingness to open yourself up to something new. Of course sniping feels weird if you are used to Halo 2, sword battles can be exhilarating, the gravity hammer can be extremely effective if wielded well and melee attacks are one of the most effective ways of dispatching a foe in the game. I suggest you revisit, give it more time and try and let go of your Halo 2 prejudices!
