Kirby Your Enthusiam for Wii!

It's a pink, star-shaped thing!

A big shout out to Mr Blobby.
7 Mar 2008

Kirby, who is accurately described by Andy SPOnG as "that pink, star-shaped thing from Nintendo", has made its way to the Wii in his in "his first 3D adventure".

First seen on Nintendo 64 in 2001, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards "sees Kirby enlisted to help a new friend trace all the pieces of a precious, shattered crystal. Taking him on a dynamic adventure across six worlds, resulting in a showdown with enemy Dark Matter, everyone’s favourite powerful, pink puffball must save his friends from this deadly new foe", says Nintendo.

SPOnG - on its dedicated Crystal Shards page - says, among other things, "Adapting a pseudo 3D technique, similar to the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Pandemonium, the game as a platformer is a 3D side-on scrolling affair. You assume the role of Kirby himself, a pink ball of air, in a quest to defeat Dark Matter once again".

Back to Nintendo, which - we're sorry about this - uses the word "cute" to inform us that this, "cute, colourful title is available to download for 1000 Wii Points on this week’s Virtual Console". It also becomes the 193rd legacy/retro/classic to appear on Virtual Console.

Cool.. Haven't downloaded anything from the VC in ages and this looks like good fun. Metacritic says it has an average review score of 77/100 which is good enough for me :-)

Nice to see another N64 title released too. Strange that they don't release more.

And how a pink blob with red feet (shoes?) big eyes and blushing cheekscan be called "cute" I'll never know.
