Eidos-owned SCi may be canning a whopping 14 projects as it moves its development operations to Montreal, Canada, but that hasn't stopped its subsidiary company, Eidos, from announcing a new Warner Bros-licensed title; Looney Tunes: Cartoon Conductor for Nintendo.

The game, which is being released on the DS in June over in the States, is described as "a rhythm action game that puts you in charge of an orchestra that conducts the music to your favourite Looney Tunes cartoons".

Players will "conduct the orchestra like a maestro and compose the music to classic Looney Tunes cartoon scenes". Success will earn players a glimpse at scenes from Looney Tunes cartoons featuring characters including Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Sylvester the Cat and Tweety... bloody annoying bird.

Amaze Entertainment, which has worked on a number of big franchises in the past such as Shrek and Lord of the Rings, is handling development.

You might remember that Warner Bros., the owner of the Looney Tunes license, was one of the companies rumoured to be a potential buyer for SCi back in September, when SCi revealed that it had been approached with an offer. The fact that Warner Bros. had already bought a 10.3% stake in SCi made it a front runner.

Since then SCi has terminated discussions, but it did state that, "certain commercial and strategic opportunities have emerged which the Company is continuing to explore and progress." The not-so-distant release date for this game makes it unlikely that this is one of those "opportunities", but the close relationship between Warners and SCi - combined with SCi's recent woes - does get you to wondering, doesn't it...?
