EA has confirmed that it has eight sports titles in the works for the Wii, adding further support to suggestions that the company is not interested in 2K Sports in its proposed take over of Take-Two.

Writing on his blog^† Peter Moore, who moved from Microsoft to head up EA Sports last summer, posted the words:



Certain among those eight titles are obvious, like the inevitable next FIFA title. EA has numerous established sports brands such as FIFA Street, NBA, Madden (NFL), Nascar, NFL, NCAA, NHL and PGA, but SPOnG's more encouraged by the mention of "new intellectual property".

Moore's comments certainly show that EA is confident of its plans to expand without any promise of 2K Sports titles being brought into the mix.

It has been held by many that EA's primary interest in its bid to buy Take-Two is Rockstar, with EA CEO John Riccitiello having even confirmed as much when he said, "The big headline here is that our primary interest is in Rockstar and the intellectual properties around Rockstar".

Moore recently told analysts that EA plans to launch five new sports franchises over the next three years^††. Moore wrote on his blog that we are "a couple of months away from any official new game announcements".
