Epic Shows Off Gears of War 2 Jitters and Tech

Here there be videos

26 Mar 2008

Microsoft and Epic have put up two new videos on Xbox Live showing off some of the developer's Gears of War 2 antics at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this year. If the thought of switching on your 360 to download them just seems like too much effort, however, you can view them below.

First you've got the announcement, made in dramatic style by Gears 2 lead designer Cliff Bleszinski after hacking through the stage backdrop. "Now I wanna tell you that Gears 1 was a setup. An appetiser for all the characters, the environments, the gameplay mechanics", Cliffy B tells us. A set-up! If you feel cheated in buying Gears 1 now, SPOnG sympathises.

Next is a tech demo for the updated Unreal Engine 3, delivered by Epic Games' CEO and technical director Tim Sweeney.

I watched the video on the Xbox Live marketplace and have to say the one thing that really stood out the most was having soo many Locusts on screen at once the graphical upgrades were also a nice update to the U3 engine.

Yeah and only for jobs to turn around and say 'Everyone that entry of mine is going to cost you all £14.99...' Watch how anger fills the room LOL!!!

Anyhow can't wait for Gears of war 2! It will sell more copies than any game this year and I mean ANY game.
